Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

You will be responsible for providing technical support and administration for the NetBackup, TSM and Avamar enterprise environments, the overall performance of the backup environments including chronic & complex backup problem resolution. You will work closely with the design organization and vendors to understand and assess the impact of new backup requirements and product enhancements. Additional responsibilities include the implementation of backup infrastructure projects. You will also work closely with open systems platform specialists, system administrators and DBAs as well as other IT infrastructure and network groups to implement backup solutions and reviews backup and recovery solutions in use by existing systems and resolve outstanding problems. This position is required to provide 24X7 on-call support.

Principle Responsibilities /Duties:
• Provide Break/Fix for chronically failing backups, working with other teams to arrive at solution
• Support restoration efforts during system outages
• Assess and upgrade backup software on backup infrastructure and clients
• Work with project teams to implement new backup solutions
• Improve backup success by identifying and implementing areas of improvement
• Communicate results orally and in writing regarding new processes, projects and in regular status reports

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field of study. 5+ years of technical trouble shooting

• Hardware (IBM/Oracle tape libraries, ACSLS software, SAN Tape zoning)
• General Unix/Windows System Administration skills
• Problem Solving
• Very good oral/Written Communication skills
