Amazon seeks a Tax Team lead to be a member of our Global Tax Calculation Services Program. The Global Tax Calculation Services Program is comprised of tax professionals and software engineers that are responsible for providing end-to-end global transaction tax calculation solutions (sales and use taxes, value-added taxes, good and services taxes, and other consumption taxes) to Amazon and thousands of other merchants selling on Amazon marketplaces and other ecommerce platforms.
About the role
Team Lead – Tax Engine, will be responsible for smooth operations of Tax Engine team. These includes product classification, tools enhancements and projects related to Tax Engine development. Successful candidate will be responsible for: hiring, training, and employee development; managing group workload and establishing priorities; ensuring existing policies and procedures are followed; managing annual performance targets; creating and monitoring appropriate performance metrics. This position will also act as an escalation point in resolving complex outstanding issues with stakeholders from Global Tax teams. Primary job duties include:
· Lead the team of Tax Analysts (5+)
· Participate in team operational excellence programs and process improvements
· Maintain metrics and reporting for measuring process improvement
Perform product tax classifications and participate in ongoing audit activities
· Perform basic product taxability research across a wide range of categories
· Discuss and drive individual development and individual performance metrics
· Cooperation with other Team leads and Managers in EU
· Utilize extensive product catalog attributes and other data to ensure products are classified properly for indirect tax purposes
· Apply taxonomies and other classification structures while supporting the product tax classification function
Create training data supporting Machine Learning initiatives for product tax classification
