Job Description
Amazon’s Tax Team seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Tax Analyst to join our Indirect Tax Technology team in Bratislava, Slovakia. We are a fast growing team, so we're looking for candidates who are eager and able to learn new content quickly, who are willing to go into unfamiliar territory, and who possess solid judgment and integrity around confidential information.
The right individual should have data, tax and/or accounting skills and be able to apply good business judgment. Additionally, the individual should be a self-starter and have operated successfully in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
This role performs a wide variety of responsibilities including:
Perform detailed data research and analysis within selected tax jurisdictions; investigate, troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues
Analyze data sets to define requirements for technical development
Work with regional VAT teams to identify improvements in efficiency and controllership for their current processes
Teach VAT teams how to obtain the data necessary for their reporting, planning, and controllership processes
Support project prioritization discussions, timelines and trade-offs with business partners
Contribute to the delivery of the indirect tax technology projects and/or independently drive smaller projects or components of larger projects
Build and maintain relationships with our software development teams and other technical teams across Amazon
Support the development of new metrics and measures to quantify the value of different aspects of tax data
Individuals who have been successful in this position have a strong intellectual curiosity, the ability to dive into data, and want to understand the details of processes and calculations in a workflow.

Requirements for the employee

University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Basic qualifications
University degree in one of the following subject areas: Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years’ experience working in data analysis, business analysis, tax, accounting, or related field
Basic knowledge to query relational databases (SQL) and the ability to pull data from various sources
Strong critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications
Experience with large-scale tax or accounting business processes and data flows.
Experience with large data sets, data reconciliation, and/or data investigation.
Ability to explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a wide audience, and be able to translate business objectives into actionable analyses.
Able to proactively identify risks before they become problems.
Revenue accounting experience preferred.
Experience with VAT across multiple geographies.
Experience with data modeling and large scale data warehouses.
Creative, positive, and helpful attitude; a team oriented, customer-centric working style.
