For our Business Center in Bratislava (Slovakia) we are currently seeking to recruit a

Customs Specialist (EMEA)

Your responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

The successful candidate will be part of the Global Customs & Trade Compliance (GCTC) organization that is responsible for all of the company’s customs and trade compliance activity throughout the world. The team focuses on ensuring that the company’s imports and exports are handled in an efficient and legally compliant manner. The overall purpose of this position is to play a crucial role in establishing and managing the customs and international trade compliance activities for the company’s operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Principle Role:

1. Filing of Customs Declarations: Develop and implement a plan for performing the following activity for all Adient operations throughout EMEA.

a) Gather, analyze and declare to the appropriate governmental customs authority, all information necessary to import and export Adient’s goods.

b) Ensure that the information declared to the governmental customs authorities is correct – including tariff classification, origin, free trade agreement eligibility and value of the goods.

c) Where necessary, collaborate with GCTC’s Centers of Expertise to determine the correct tariff classification, origin, free trade agreement eligibility and value of the goods

d) Ensure customs declarations are timely and accurately filed according to legal and corporate requirements.

e) Resolve all shipment issues.

f) Perform all record keeping processes and maintain records of all import and export customs clearances.

g) When necessary, collaborate with other Adient personnel and Adient’s agents to ensure timely clearance of Adient’s cross border shipments.

h) Report key performance indicators of trade compliance to GCTC leadership.

i) Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.

2. Audits & Controversies: Assist other GCTC personnel in the handling of all international trade audits and controversies (penalties, disclosures, judicial or administrative proceedings, etc.) that arise between Adient and the customs authorities in EMEA. This will involve analyzing the facts and circumstances of GCTC’s compliance program in light of applicable Customs laws.

3. Duty Planning/Forecasting/Budgeting: Working with other GCTC personnel, Supply Chain managers and other groups within ADIENT, collect information on current duty spend, forecast future costs, and identify duty savings opportunities in current and future transactions. Develop plans to achieve identified duty savings and work with other GCTC personnel and other ADIENT organizations to implement those plans.

General Responsibilities:

With regard to each of the above referenced activities, the Customs Specialist (EMEA) may be expected to:

a) Perform data analytics to identify issues, risks and opportunities that may arise.

b) Oversee implementation and operation of information technology solutions.

c) Partner with regional management and the business on Strategic projects

d) Coordinate with other functional partners, such as; Finance, Risk Management, Legal Counsel, Tax, Information Systems, Procurement, Supply Planning, Logistics, etc. to resolve and/or improve related activities.

e) Conduct auditing/monitoring of the activities of ADNT personnel and personnel of agents and service providers.

Your qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter (e.g. laws within Europe that govern the import and export of goods)
3 years’ experience in a customs and trade compliance related position.
Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal. German language skills a plus.
Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical and presentational skills
Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, and compliance related IT systems and tools maintained by governmental authorities.
Detail oriented, and adaptive to change.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university required.
Customs Brokers License (LCB) Preferred
