Our opportunity

In your role you will be responsible for the daily operations of all Global Corporate and General Insurance Functions business applications. We are looking for a positive, open-minded and proactive person with strong communication skills, who will be working closely with our stakeholders, suppliers and the other teams within the IT Service Operations organisation, offering IT Application Operations services at a high level of quality. The Application Operations team is currently ramping up, which is a great opportunity for you to support, identify and initiate ways to improve daily operations and propose future areas of engagement.

Key Accountabilities
 
Essential Job Function:

•Responsible for the monitoring and effective event management of all GC & GIFn business applications and to continually ensure that key applications are effectively monitored
•Development and outbound positioning of IT Application Operations services
•Oversees change management as defined in the global process and participates in relevant change advisory boards (CAB’s)
•Identifies service improvement opportunities and gains buy-in for implementation
•Supports completeness, adequacy, viability and cost-effectiveness of business continuity and disaster recovery and ensures backup for response team following the ITSCM guidelines
•Engages with and monitors the high-level progress of suppliers and support teams to implement agreed programs (including the appropriate governance)
 

Business Accountabilities

•Provides technical guidance and recommendations as a subject matter expert in relevant areas of IT, in order to support the resolution of the complex customer cases and develop precedents to improve customer service
•Manages key internal and external stakeholder relationships across the organisation in order to achieve engagement to change, and provide technical leadership in the design and development of new IT solutions
•Ensures that IT requirements are properly addressed in projects, and ensure delivery of assigned IT projects or work streams are successful, collaborating with IT colleagues from across the wider function to deliver for the business
•Monitors and maintains service level agreements with our stakeholders and monitors the company’s service level agreements with its service providers
•Coordination of creation, implementation, ongoing testing and modification of IT business continuity and disaster recovery plans for GC & GIFn and input into wider disaster recovery and business continuity planning and policy

 

Your Skills and Experience
 
As an Operation Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

•Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
•5 or more years are required in the field of IT Applications Operations in a multi-supplier environment  including relationship management
•Experience based on best practice frameworks such as ITIL or COBIT
•Excellent knowledge of the ITIL framework (MALC) with a good understanding of how the performance against these processes are measured and monitored in real life situations.
•Deeper understanding of IT Application operations topics (Application Performance Monitoring, Configuration Management, Batch job Scheduling, Application Portfolio Management).
•English: Fluent spoken and written
