Job description, responsibilities and duties

Team Lead Accounting and Closing P&C Bratislava (TL A&C P&C) will manage a team of accountants and senior accountants, working in the field of financial closing activities and Internal Retrocession (IGR) for Property and Casualty Business (P&C) on a global level.

Internal Retrocession (IGR) is an activity where one company within Swiss Re Group re-/insures activities of another company. The team is responsible for the overall governance of global IGRsincluding acquiring of sign-offs, drafting of contracts, ensuring group guidelines are adhered to and for the timely and accurate submission of the P&C IGR financial statements for all carriers, views (Year-to-date, Projection, Plan) and valuations (US GAAP, Stat, Ultimate Values), intragroup payments and reconciliations.

Financial closing activities include quarterly closings of the technical P&C sub ledgers for all relevant valuations for our reinsurance entities/branches in Europe and Asia, supporting the delivery of non-life data sets to Group reporting, perform reconciliations, checks, investigations and clean ups of data as required.

The role will perform all relevant people management activities including but not limited to goal setting, performance monitoring, personal development and leadership.

Furthermore, the role will be specifically responsible for the governance of IGRs.

The role will interact frequently with a number of key stakeholders, including Reinsurance and Corporate Solutions embedded Finance teams, CFOs, Actuaries, Risk Management, Auditors, Capital Management and other (Finance) functions.

Leadership
Develop members of the team and lead them on a path to become Centre of Excellence in their field
Lead and support training activities related to their area of expertise
Manage team workload, monitor and measure performance
Cooperate closely with peers in parallel teams in other locations
Support other team members and provide expert knowledge when needed
Perform all administration tasks related to team management

Technical
Overall governance of Internal Retrocessions (IGR) including acquiring of global sign-offs, drafting of contracts, and ensuring group guidelines are adhered to
Production and timely submission of Property and Casualty Internal Retrocession (P&C IGR) financial statements
Controlling of the quarterly IGR results, and contribution to net- net analytics running across Finance
Further enhance global IGR processes and calculation engine (GRM) together with Finance IT
Contribution to Strategic Finance Operations projects
Responsible for timely and accurate financial closing activities

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Master's Degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a role relevant to Accounting or Financial Reporting, with good understanding of Financial Statements
US-GAAP and/or IFRS trained accountant, preferably with working experience in re-/insurance and/or banking industry
Experience in working in a large multi-national environment
Previous experience in people management is an advantage
Previous exposure to insurance or reinsurance is an advantage
Independent and proactive, with good interpersonal skills
Ability to understand and adapt fast to complex work-flows and systems
Ability to set priorities and keep set deadlines
As this is a senior role, the candidate is expected to be able to work independently and proactively, while maintaining good working relationship with other team members and key stakeholders
Ability to fluently communicate and write in English (C1 minimum) is a must
