About the role
We are now looking for an analyst interested in our core business activities with an affinity to systems and processes in a controlled environment. Your primary responsibility is to support the team in the quarterly closing activities for US GAAP and Statutory with a focus on co-ordination, specifically in meaningful analytical input from global information providers, report administration and general closing processes. As part of the L&H (Life & Health) Accounting & Closing team you will also be involved in ad hoc tasks and L&H improvement initiatives. This role is an opportunity to get closer to the business and to deepen your understanding of the key business value drivers of L&H business for the major Swiss reinsurance carriers. You will have a possibility to develop your expertise in various valuations, i.e US GAAP, Swiss Statutory and economic value management reporting. Furthermore you will interact in a broad network of Reinsurance functions across various divisions (Finance accounting, FP&A, Business Management teams, etc.), thereby growing your visibility and exposure to key partners.

Our main tasks are:
• Support efficient and effective reconciliation process across all valuations
• Perform accounting and reporting entries in the various financial systems for L&H Intra-group business. Provide reconciliations on group level as well as on individual carrier level.
• Review Intra-group figures and ensure that the accounting is consistent and follows the accounting principles
• Ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of system data
• Development and production of regular reports and analysis
• Keep control environment by performing checks, investigating and cleaning up data as required
• Respond to queries in an efficient and professional manner
• Support our role in the economic valuation management process
• Act as contact for any process or control related inquiries for different valuations and for different partners including internal and external audit
• Manage own workload effectively to achieve agreed service/ business standards
• Undertake necessary learning to develop current and new areas of competence
• Support on any other close activities and ad hoc work or project

About the team

The Accounting & Closing Life & Health team is responsible for the quarterly financial closing of US GAAP and Statutory valuations for our reinsurance entities in Europe. We are a team of about 20 people with varied strengths located in Bratislava, Zurich and London. Our core mandate is the closing of our technical sub ledger for all relevant valuations. In addition we support other teams in delivering quality input in to the legal entity reporting process.

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

•You are curious and interested in building a long-term career in reinsurance accounting
•You have a university degree or equivalent in Finance or Economics
•Having minimum 2 years working experience in areas of Finance, Reporting or Accounting is an advantage
• You are self-motivated and have consistent track record of working independently
• You are strong in organization, planning, process and analytical skills to enable delivery of quality output within tight deadlines
• You have strong computer skills and are an advanced user of MS Office
• You are a strong teammate with can do attitude
• You bring good social and communication skills
• You are fluent in English
• If you have Insurance or Reinsurance knowledge, this would be a plus
• Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting policies in Switzerland and US GAAP is an advantage
