Job description, responsibilities and duties

You will build and lead a team of underwriters to support our markets in Continental Europe and the Middle East. You will decide on the insurability of cases sent by our direct clients (insurance companies, brokers) to protect the portfolio with the mortality/morbidity assumptions and again anti-selection, by following our guidelines. You will also support the delivery and the execution of the differentiated Swiss Re service strategy to meet our client's needs (e.g. product development). Extensive trainings will be given by Swiss Re experts.

On a daily basis, your team will be responsible for managing the following:
• Registration and allocation of underwriting cases via our administrative system
• Assessment of medical and financial documents (blood tests, cardiovascular reports... and accounting documents) to establish a recommendation with the help of our underwriting tool and the Medical Officers.
• Client facing activities, such as trainings and audits, preparations, or onsite activities
• Support for translation of our underwriting related tools such as Life Guide

About the team:
The Underwriting team (with at least 5/7 underwriters) will be responsible for supporting several markets across the EMEA region on the business side, including cases assessment and various client needs.
You will report to the Underwriting Operations Manager based in Zurich and frequently work with regional and cross-functional stakeholders.

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• You bring proven leadership and management skills
• You possess great communication skills at all levels
• It would be a real advantage if you bring L&H insurance/reinsurance experience with underwriting skills (but we are open to consider different background like medical expert (e.g. nurse, physiotherapist, health professional in general) or financial specialist
• You are proficient in English, knowledge of another European language (other than Slovak) would be a plus.
• You are a strong teammate
• You bring attested talent development capabilities
• You are flexible and able to manage demanding requirements from multiple stakeholders
• You are naturally curious and interested in learning new skills
