Job description, responsibilities and duties

The position holder is responsible for leading teams of technical Accountants and managers.

Your main task will be for building up and stabilizing a well-working Technical Accounting Unit, which performs according to all agreed Technical Accounting processes and theirs guidelines to achieve the required service and quality level.



Leadership and motivation of teams of responsibility, with overall responsibility for:
•Setting and achieving team targets, incl. KPIs.
•Development (development in regards to TA and professional knowledge) and stabilization of the assigned teams, in accordance with processes and guidelines to achieve the required service and quality level.
•Assuring reporting, quality and risk management activities.
•Developing people and talents (people management).
•Assurance of professional communication with stakeholders / internal clients and ensuring professional service provision.
•Responsibility for assigned project-work and special tasks.
•Continuous service improvement and process development.



Strategic thinking – the ability to analyze the organization's competitive position by considering market and industry trends, existing and potential customers (internal and external), and strengths and weaknesses as compared to competitors:
•Understands the organization's strengths and weaknesses.
•Understands industry and market trends affecting the organization's competitiveness.
•Has an in-depth understanding of competitive products and services within the marketplace.
•Develops and proposes short term strategies/plans and participate on long-term (3-5 year) strategy for the organization based the organization's current and potential capabilities.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

•Experience within shared services or accounting or similar area.
•Ideally 5 years of experience within higher managerial position, leading several teams in the area of shared services or financial services (e.g. banking, insurance) and preferable in an international environment.
•Ability to develop and lead several teams.
•Language skills: English fluent written and spoken, any other European language is an advantage.
•Ability to quickly adapt to Swiss Re and re-insurance accounting processes and familiarize with new applications.
•Excellent communication skills (clear, transparent, convincing) and negotiation skills, assertiveness.
•Strong focus on performance and targets.
•Ability to think globally and strategically and to develop and implement new concepts.
•Strong ethical and behavioural values.
•Ability to adapt to changes and implement them accordingly.
