Group Internal Audit (GIA) plays a critical role in the governance of Swiss Re, providing independent assurance over key risks and controls to the Group's Board and executive management on a global basis. Working in the department provides a unique opportunity to develop a wide understanding of key issues in Swiss Re, develop key contacts and visibility with senior management globally and provide commercial recommendations to improve Swiss Re's processes. GIA can provide a stepping-stone into Swiss Re's global business and corporate functions, with a long established track record of placing staff into key business roles.
The Financial Reporting Risk (FRR) Audit Manager, together with a team of three, has responsibility to deliver the FRR testing framework for GIA. This includes scoping, scheduling, testing, and reporting across all functions of Swiss Re. This role provides an opportunity to deal with issues that have organizational impact at all levels of the business and provide assurance over financial reporting to the Swiss Re Group.
A key element of the role is the assessment of FRR controls (adequacy and effectiveness) as well as ongoing identification and mitigation of current and evolving risks. The FRR Audit Manager will play a significant role in enhancing the risk management and the FRR control culture within the Group.
The FRR Audit Manager will also play a key role in maintaining and monitoring the relationship between GIA, External Audit, Operational Risk (ORM) and Business Management to ensure that the FRR work is done in the most effective and efficient way possible throughout the Group. The FRR Audit Manager will lead GIA's FRR Task Force, assembled from Ten GIA subject matter experts.
The FRR Audit Manager will also play a leading role in GIA's annual risk assessment process and in developing the annual Financial Reporting Risk (FRR) Audit Plan. The FRR Audit Manager Audit will lead the individual FRR audits, i.e. leading an audit with the FRR team for whom you will have management/coaching responsibility.
Furthermore, you are expected to participate in GIA's initiatives and projects as appropriate.

Your major responsibilities include:

People
• Lead a team of three assigned staff that may include audit associates, auditors, and senior auditors
• Provide leadership and strive to enhance effectiveness through performance
management including compensation, MbO, and constructive and timely feedback
• Identify training and development needs for all direct reports and define and ensure
delivery of personal development plans

Operational
• Maintain working relationship with management of relevant business, external auditors, and ORM in close coordination with the Senior Audit Manager
• Represent your area and GIA on a regional and global basis, and develop & maintain relationships with regional and global management
• Deliver the audit in accordance with GIA methodology and professional standards
• Ability to travel internationally

Audit Cycle
• Oversight responsibility in developing GIA's annual FRR risk assessment and Audit

Plan
• Agree the scope of assigned audits with Senior Audit Manager by performing in-depth analysis of the FRR auditable unit
• Allocate, monitor and review the work of team members
• Act as the primary contact for auditee management during execution and finalization of an audit
• Discuss and negotiate (as necessary) the audit results with management
• Draft audit report for review and approval by audit management
• Ensure appropriate distribution of draft audit report and assume responsibility for agreeing management's actions
• Issue / deliver final report reflecting business management responses
• Ensure audit reports and exceptions are input into Swiss Re's risk management tool in a timely manner

Personality requirements and skills

University degree is preferred.
5+ years of work experience in audit or other relevant experience.

• CPA, CA, CIA or professional certification is preferred
• External or Internal Audit Experience is an advantage
• Experience in managing and motivating teams, proven track record of delivering to target
• Excel skills for analysing data
• Comfortable working with data to validate controls and identify risks and generating ideas for more complex tests with support from GIA Data Analytics specialists
• Experience in creating test procedure to cover 100% of the population
• Good understanding of financial operations, e.g. US-GAAP and economic capital, knowledge/ experience of treasury, capital management and Solvency II
• Engage and develop a team of audit juniors towards achieving the completion of the audit plan in a professional manner, including cross functional working within the GIA unit
• Prepare realistic plans of resource requirements needed to accomplish team or work group objectives
• Ability to operate and manage in a matrix culture to achieve the unit's overall objectives and targets
• Convey a thorough understanding of own area's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
• Strong communication (written and spoken), presentation and influencing skills at all levels within the organisation incl. the confidence to interact at Senior Management level
