Job Description
Life & Health IT Senior Application Engineer – Data Integration Expert (ETL) is responsible for delivering technical solutions within the L&H IT landscape and project portfolio with immediate focus on supporting the Valuations Database. The L&H Senior Application Engineer will report directly to the Head of L&H IT Costing & Admin Platforms and will be involved with end-to-end solution development from design to delivery, support operational incident and problem resolution and performance enhancements.

In this position, the person is responsible for collaborating with a local team of developers and production support personnel and coordinating with a complement offshore and nearshore team. The individual will also support development requirements to other regional application management staff, currently located in Armonk, Fort Wayne, London and Zurich. The person will provide overall technical leadership while collaborating with a variety of global Swiss Re teams and leveraging vendor partnerships. Activities will cover all solution development lifecycle phases, from technical analysis, design, development, quality assurance to production induction and support.

Key skills include the ability to bring ideas from concept to reality and being able to communicate effectively to all stakeholders. The key responsibilities would be:
- Familiar with Swiss Re's TWS, UC4 and PowerCenter infrastructure and deployment processes
- Seasoned ETL analyst and programmer (4 – 6 years experience)
- Expert in PowerCenter
- Sound knowledge of relational databes and SQL
- Experience with Business Objects reports and universes helpful
- Oracle design and tuning experience helpful
- Translate business requirements into system production solution design and patterns, which enables quality, re-usability, scalability availability and maintainability in accordance with the overall Business Strategy and IT standards
- Collaborate with other teams in defining functionality, scope and time lines
- Present and communicate ideas and design to various teams for review and brainstorming
- Act as development consultant to operational team, assisting them in choosing the most appropriate technical solution for their applications and/or production issues
- Support development defect resolution and/or operational/production incident and problem solutions
- Implement long term operational requirements, design solutions and operational efficiency
- Knowledge of L&H Domain and/or lines of business helpful.

Requirements

Education:
- Bachelor's degree level or equivalent in computer science or related field.
- MS is a plus.

Essential requirements:
- Develop new PC jobs based on business requirements
- Support TWS scheduling
- Create and update documentation
- Support Oracle (smaller amendments)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Accomplished interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication in complex environments
- Ability to manage own workload; self directed
- Strong database and modeling background, with experience in addressing performance issues in large databases
- Well-experienced in System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile SCRUM methodologies
- Expertise in standard Workflow tools
- Experienced in working with a diverse multi-locational team of internal and external professionals
- Innovation with quick work around solutions, while also working on developing optimized permanent solutions
- Business customer focused
- Diligence in managing documentation requirements.
