Job description, responsibilities and duties

The position holder is responsible for Reinsurance expenses and associated income related accounting and reporting including provision of information to other areas of the Swiss Re Group for direct and indirect tax, US GAAP, local statutory and regulatory reporting purposes. To include assistance with policy setting, process improvement identification and implementation. In addition to provide front line support for the Bratislava location for local Finance related queries.


Your job will include :
- Account for and produce monthly/quarterly/annual accounts for Swiss Re Europe SA Slovak Branch
- Accruals and prepayment accounting and associated reconciliations
- Payroll accounting and associated balance sheet reconciliations
- Handle, or control, all other balance sheet reconciliations where not controlled by other teams. Undertake review of non Finance reconciliations
- Prepare VAT / equivalent reporting for VAT / equivalent managers (including reconciliations)
- All intragroup recharging activities, i.e. accounting for intragroup recharges in and recharges out and International Assignee accounting / processes. All associated reconciliations
- Transactional level reporting to the business
- Onsite support on a local finance basis for queries relating to finance
- Update of local Ourspace site for finance related subjects, e.g. Travel Policy
- Maintain bank account relationship and access rights
- Funding and liquidity management
- Active involvement in the project to migrate accounting activities from outsourced provider to an in house solution
- Active involvement within the wider Non Technical Accounting team and Reinsurance Finance EMEA in terms of productivity improvement initiatives, projects and setting of policies
- Act as the interface between Finance team and rest of Group, e.g. Tax and Legal teams, Group Cost
Management / Controlling, Group FP&A, wider business community
- Any other ad hoc tasks as required from time to time

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

- University degree in the area of finance, accounting, economics or similar
- Relevant experience as a Slovakian Financial accountant or similar is an advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in SAP is a great advantage
- Fluent English written and spoken
- Management skills and adherence to deadlines
- Advanced level on Microsoft Office (Excel – Pivot Tables, Word and PowerPoint)
