Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

StudentMarketing assists governments, cities, associations and top commercial brands around the world in better understanding and succeeding in the international student travel and education industry. After 8 years in the industry, StudentMarketing has amassed a portfolio of over one hundred clients, with approximately half of them active with projects during any given year.

StudentMarketing provides its customers with business intelligence and marketing solutions, while also helping them establish market connections by way of professional industry events.

New business is mainly generated through multiple avenues of public visibility, active relationship management, clients' referrals and additional marketing activities. We believe in content marketing and the pull effect it provides, rather than pushing and selling.

Our rigorous lead management entails regular and systematic email communication with clients, video Skype meetings, in person meetings at industry events and office visits. In short, we employ any and all means to instill confidence and convey the benefits of working with StudentMarketing to prospective clients.

Our high conversion rates are the product of a careful process of client communication that includes the preparation of detailed proposals and subsequent agreements; internal team briefings to colleagues responsible for delivery; a final quality control check prior to actual client delivery to assure the best possible performance; and post-delivery customer care to secure customer satisfaction feedback, reference and testimonials, which in turn give rise to future opportunities and upsale.

Thanks to recent marketing investments, StudentMarketing is working on a more systematic marketing strategy that aims to enhance and increase the number and caliber of new business leads generated. As a result, we are looking to hire a Sales Manager who will help cultivate an increased number of leads; provide seamless follow up; and drive lead management toward successful conversions.

The main role of the Sales Manager is to independently manage and process incoming leads with the opportunity to become a part of pro-active sales outreach, traveling, conducting presentations and representing the company at events, as well as cooperating with the Marketing Manager in identifying B2G & B2B business opportunities and targets.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for:
  • B2B business initiatives: Stimulate, follow-up and convert leads acquired with the help of marketing effort and managed with the aid of our CRM.
  • B2G business initiatives: Follow up and administer acquired government leads in concert with our contacts, lobbyists and consultants; later on proactively seek and sign up for international tenders and projects.
  • Internal management of converted leads: Allocate and manage the ratio of incoming business to internal capacity i.e. workflow allocation to balance timely delivery with the company’s existing internal resources; as well as managing fiscal allocation and cash flow i.e. timely payments from clients.
  • Reputation and relationship management: Cooperate with the Marketing Manager on the allocation of the marketing budget across all elements of sponsorship, partnership, communication and press coverage. Cultivate relationships with key industry leaders and partners.
  • Representation of the company: Present the company at industry events and travel either with or in place of the CEO to board meetings, conferences, symposiums, and industry forums. Anticipate at least 10 trips per year.

When implementing tasks you may not be an expert at, you will have a network of reliable suppliers available on hand - travel agents, graphic designers, copywriters, consultants, lobbyists, etc.

You will travel at a 4 star level, with the assistance of a travel agent, in order to be able to fully focus your talents and time on sales when at your destination.

There will be a 3-6 month induction period for you to get familiar with the industry as a whole, as well as the company and its clients.

You will report to the COO.
