Job description, responsibilities and duties

What Front End Developer does in SolarWinds:

* Works closely with UX and Design teams to implement web user interface for our sites (solarwinds.com, DNSstuff.com, KiwiSyslog.com, ...)
* Writes quality code (mostly HTML, CSS, and JS) which is deployed to high visibility websites serving over 100 000 unique visitors per week
* Slices up Photoshop comps provided by the Design/UX teams into standards-compliant cross-browser-compatible HTML & CSS code
* Contributes to estimation and scoping of web projects
* Troubleshoots CSS and JS issues on existing pages
* Contributes to infrastructure planning discussions
* Works on a team which follows fast agile process

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

What is required to succeed in this position:

* Commercial experience with web development
* Expert-level HTML experience (esp. cross-browser compatibility and degradation strategies)
* Strong CSS experience (CSS 2.0 & 3.0)
* Strong JavaScript experience (DOM 0-2)
* Experience with "Web 2.0" frameworks, e.g. AJAX
* Experience with ASP.NET
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

What would be helpful, but not required:

* Experience with MVC Framework
* Experience with jQuery
* Experience with A/B Testing
* Experience with HTML5
* Knowledge & experience with performance optimization (page load time optimization)
* Experience with Data API (SQL, XML, Web services, etc.)
* Knowledge of software UI design principles
* Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Sect 508)
* Experience with Agile development practices
* Experience with Client-side MVVM frameworks (e.g. Angular, Knockout)
