Job Description

Media initialization
Pool management
Licensing (tape libraries, Data Protector v. 6.23 and higher )
Add/change/delete backup client. Client system location (DC rack), Backup type definition (LAN or SAN)
Determine backup path - tape library
Determine backup path - SAN backup (SAN fabric, switch, port to connect the client)
Determine backup path - LAN backup (device server)
Place backup related cabling request
Check client compliance - SAN backup (HBA fw/drivers update if needed)
Check client compliance - LAN backup (dedicated NIC & connection to backup subnet)
Tape Library (ESL) Secure Mgr. configuration (SAN backup)
Backup management software components installation
Backup specifications & scheduling for filesystem backups
Backup specifications & scheduling for application (integration) backups
Restore testing
Plan firmware upgrade on backup devices
Plan upgrade on backup management software
Backup management software IDB proactive administration
Open SW calls at 3rd party (Backup management software support)
Failures on Backup management software database (IDB)
Recovery of Backup management software database (IDB)
Perform disaster recovery restores

Requirements

Backup engineer (Data protector)
SAN & Storage - understand the basics and symptoms
Very good knowledge of IT environment
At least 2 years of practical experience in customer and business support
Analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
Service oriented behavior and communication to internal and external contacts
Very good communication skills (communication with customers verbal and written)
Language: fluent in English
