Job description, responsibilities and duties

Siemens Slovakia Rail automation competence center in Žilina is looking for the the colleagues for the position „Senior Interface Coordination Engineer.“

The competence center is taking part in the international rail automation projects worldwide.The Senior Interface Coordination Engineer will lead the interface management specification and implementation. In order to realise the project, the Senior Interface Coordination Engineer representing the communications department has to manage, track and ensure all Interfaces between the communications sub systems i.e. CCTV, Radio Communications, Fibre Optic Transmission Network, PABX & PHPs and predominantly act as the communications interface representative to civil works to ensure all space, load and location requirements are considered by the civil works contractor and to facilitate the design and installation of each sub system is considered within the transport networks following the best practices.
Throughout the process, clear and accurate reporting and coordination to each sub system to ensure all requirements are bilaterally managed for all stakeholders of the process.

The job responsibilities are (in dependance on the project):

• Manage and track all interfaces from Communication Division between communication and civil works consortium member
• Be the nominated Solution Architect for ISM projects, having responsibility for selection of the most appropriate solution model.
• Work in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts to determine the most appropriate compliant and cost effective options for deployment to projects.
• Provide Engineering support during the bid process, ensuring maximum re-use of previously deployed solutions.
• Provide estimates for engineering projects and tenders with regard to resources, plans, technology, risk and process.
• Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied throughout the engineering life cycle.
• Deliver assigned activities within agreed timescales and budgeted costs.
• Ensure products and projects are delivered in accordance with Siemens Safety and Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety and customer requirements.
• Maintain and develop good relationships with internal and external customers, industry associations, suppliers and partners.
• Maintain and develop own professional competence

The job will require regular traveling to Germany and other locations.

Personality requirements and skills
• Fluency in English, written and spoken
• Proven experience in delivering complex projects to the Transportation Industry
• Proven experience in railway infrastructure including Tunnel project experience
• Experience in large scale, large volume interface management within the railway industry including requirements knowledge with various aspects such as EMC, earthing, lightning protection and common station infrastructure.
• Proven experience in the use of requirements management tools.
• Proven experience in the use of configuration management and change control tools.
• Proven experience and solid overview of communication sub-systems, including CCTV, Fibre Optical Networks, Office Network, PABX & Tetra Passenger Help Points and .
• Proven success working with a team of expert engineers to design and deliver complex systems from design level to implementation
• Experience and knowledge of engineering processes at all stages of the engineering lifecycle.
• Proven experience providing estimates for engineering projects and tenders.
• Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational, time management and problem solving skills.
