SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Network Security Analyst monitors and analyzes data from various sources. This data is used to find and classify anomalous network activity on SecureOps managed networks. The Analyst is responsible for investigating alerts and determining its level of threat. He/She then follows the procedure outlined the relevant Service Level Agreement (SLA) to report/escalate the issue. The Analyst also generates various periodic reports

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors various Intrusion Detection (IDS) and SIEM consoles to identify anomalous activity.
  • Evaluates and classifies severity of identified alerts according to relevant factors.
  • Performs various database queries to complement the console monitoring.
  • Uses networking, database and security tools to investigate the context and severity of the alerts.
  • Keeps track of authorized security tools running on the managed network.
  • Submits periodic reports that summarize analyzed alerts.
  • Keeps his knowledge of general security issues and exploits up to date by passing required certifications.
  • Provides feedback to supervisors in order to continuously improve process issues and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

2+ year relevant experience in the computer or networking industry

Formal Education in Computer Science

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Genuine Interest in security issues, industry or hacking
  • Knowledge of computer security issues, requirements and trends.
  • Speaks Good English (B2 or above) (French a bonus)
  • Skill in basic networking tools and troubleshooting
  • Skill in basic system administration
  • General knowledge of Unix Systems
  • Intermediate Knowledge of MS Windows systems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment -Attention to detail & strong analytical skills
  • Ability to identify computer system intrusions and security breaches.
  • Knowledge of the nature and sources of computer viral infestations.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Ability to learn about new issues at a fast pace.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Shift work, night work and on-call work are required
  • Shifts are assigned in a rotation
