Job description, responsibilities and duties

Responsibilities
• The role of VAT Manager is a key role in the Shared Service Centre in Bratislava. It will involve a combination of compliance, risk & controls, business advisory and staff management
• Full ownership of the European VAT compliance, including the preparation of VAT calculations, computations and submissions of VAT for European subsidiary entities, including Intrastat and EC Sales reporting
• Appropriately document and analyse any documentation required for relief and recovery of VAT
• Ensure prompt and accurate reporting for tax deadline for month, quarter and year end
• Build, develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders
• Manage VAT audits and enquiries
• Improve VAT awareness and provide training to the businesses and shared service centre as required
• Reviewing and approving of VAT treatment for new events, manual invoices and credit notes
• Ensuring operational (AR,AP and EX) VAT effectiveness and continuously improving the integrity of the processes relating to VAT
• Providing advice to our team in India and Europe on VAT queries raised by suppliers and customers
• Assisting in developing ideas, providing input and analysis to various VAT savings and mitigation initiatives and supporting practical implementation
• Managing and motivating a small team of two direct reports
Qualifications
• Tax and/or accounting qualification with proven experience of mixed VAT and VAT compliance experience gained in an accounting/consulting firm and/Shared Servcie Center/ or in-house
• International/European VAT experience
• Minimum 5 years' experience focussed on managing European VAT affairs in a large organisation
• Attention to detail and ability to deal with changing priorities /change management
• Collaborative working methods
• Excellent communicator at all levels and the ability to work well in an international “virtual” team
• Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
• PeopleSoft/ERP experience and good computer skills (MS Office Suite)
