Why is this job different to all other jobs?

It involves working on prototype projects, in other words, on something that nobody has done before. Each and every task is a challenge. We head to an unknown land do not even know if we will manage to find the way. However, if we do, with us you will experience success on the world-wide level and your results will be presented in The Silicon Valley.

What do you have to know?

You must be fluent in Perl to the extent that you do not have to google the syntax. Equally, you have to have experience with Linux and direct experience with networking. Fluency in Java, C and Moose are an advantage.
We use Unix or Linux as a development environment, which can make your life a bit more complicated if you use Windows. However, we will not stop you from using the environment you are most skilled in.
The main difference between us and other companies is that we do not use waterfall software development approach for our dynamic projects, but rather agile development strategies, such as SCRUM.
Furthermore, almost all our projects come from abroad so English is something you cannot live without in this company. Communication with clients and colleagues world-wide is a daily routine here.
What will you do here?
The work is distributed based on the difficulty of the task and we believe in small teams. The rest depends on which team you join and which project you will work on. At the moment, we have teams working on binary network protocols and teams working on XML code. However, projects change periodically so you do not have to worry that you will do the same thing over and over again here.
What you should be interested in:
Our company focuses on networking so it is an advantage if you know something about it and you know what TCP and UDP are. If you have CCNA, that is great, and knowing that something like IETF and similar standards exist, that is perfect.
What do we expect?
Independence is a key. We will not spoon-feed you and this job is more for the kind of people who do not like others looking over their shoulder. You need to be communicative, as you will be in a team which might have members on the other side of the world. Therefore, you need to be able to communicate not just in person but also through emails and telephone.
How high can you grow?
If you start understanding the projects on a deeper level, you can move to a senior position. If you demonstrate skills in technical leadership, you can become a team leader. Our seniors are some of the best in the industry and they can teach you a lot. If you will be interested in the domain sector, you can become an architect.
