Job description, responsibilities and duties
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will support the effort to drive benefits and optimize Voice Services globally in order to drive cost reduction. Voice Engineer possess strong data analysis skills and is able to successfully interact as a virtual team member with other teams both internally and externally. Vendor interaction will be frequent as analysis skills are leveraged to understand and take advantage of new offerings, plans, rates and features.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out activities related to: Move, Add, Change, and Delete (MACD) of various IP Telephony (IPT) related sites
- Respond to Tier-3 issues from the Helpdesk and end user requests regarding telecom related issues
- Provide advanced troubleshooting guidance to global team as well as providing direction to the Helpdesk on global issues
- Able to analyze users’ needs, voice traffic, system capacity and other data in order to maintain a robust, scalable and reliable telecommunications architecture
- Coordinate the ordering and installation of data and voice circuits (DS-3, T-1, 56/64k, MPLS, ISDN PRI/BRI, POTS)
- Identify, test and evaluate new technology and applications
- Recommend changes to phone systems software/hardware and infrastructure standards, including virtual and vendor options in order to improve the reliability, performance and/or cost of the solutions with in our ever growing environment
- Monitor and maintain phone systems security. Identify and eliminate potential security risks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience with telecommunications systems
- Project management experience is advantage
- Technical, administrative and troubleshooting experience with PBX's, Voicemail Systems, Paging and Vendor Management and a strong working knowledge of communications protocols, PSTN, VOIP and Contact Centres
- Working knowledge of IP Telephony concepts, Virtualization of Voice System and key PBX systems
