JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Software Packaging Engineer is responsible for contributing and defining the direction of the client computing environment while ensuring continued stability and standard client computing configurations. This includes working with the architecture team in researching and evaluating new technology, recommending products and overseeing and administering the engineering process from concept, design, implementation and maintenance.

The Packaging Engineer administers all Packaging engineering activities including building GPO's, login script updates and maintenance, developing and testing packages, image development, develops, oversees and implements test plans and reviews and automates manual processes whenever possible.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

- The Software Engineer is expected to have a working knowledge of all Client Computing Management tools, utilities, policies and procedures; as well as lead the disaster recovery process for the client computing environment
- Senior Engineer works with the client computing service delivery and other IT areas to resolve enterprise problems impacting client computing performance
- The Software Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and mentoring for junior members of the client computing engineering organization


REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience using InstallShield AdminStudio. Added pluses are Wise Package Studio (or other packaging software) for repackaging software applications (MSI/Windows Installer format)
- MCSE or other related certification
- Working knowledge of PC Backup, Migration and Asset management technologies
- Knowledge of MSI/Windows Installer format
- Experience in VMware workstation/ Hyper-V (for repackaging software)
- Experience in creating technical documentation
- Experience in scripting (VBScript, batch files, InstallScript, Wise Script, etc.)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Active Directory Group Policies, Exchange, and Windows Servers Ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels as well as with outside vendors and contractors Demonstrated knowledge of LAN topology, routers, hubs, switches, and network protocols (TCP/IP, IPX) In-depth working knowledge of enterprise supporting operating systems (Microsoft Windows XP), and the Microsoft Office suite of applications
