Director Pharma Technology & Support (m/f)

Job Purpose

This position will be responsible for leading the PTS (Pharmaceutical Technology & Support) technology team of our MSD Manufacturing Division, MSD Manufacturing Division in Animal Health (AH) in Vienna, Austria. The MSD Manufacturing Division Animal Health Vienna facility is producing a significant range of the AH non-sterile products (incl. Bravecto) and is considered as a strategic AH MSD Manufacturing Division site. Several projects (Upscaling Bravecto and several new product introductions and investment projects) and several major process robustness initiatives are currently ongoing in Vienna.

First main objective

  • The position holder is responsible for the realization of the process validation of legacy and new product processes within the site and the control and realization of process technology transfer projects (New Product Introduction).
  • He/She has to identify opportunities for product/process improvements and to plan the realization of the selected opportunities.
  • He/She organizes support for all types of product/process and packaging investigations (organizes the support for product life cycle).
  • He/She has to ensure the implementation of these activities are in line with the initial scope (URS) giving by the Site Senior Leadership team, R&D or other global departments.
  • He/She is also responsible for the planning & realization of all cleaning validation activities within the site.

Second main objective

The position holder is responsible for the realization of the qualification of our new and legacy equipment/utilities within the Vienna site.

Third main objective

The function holder has to organize and maintain a project status tracking system and a transparent project portfolio program for the PTS activities. The function holder will use the connectivity system for this objective.

Fourth main objective

  • The position holder is responsible for the realization of the lab method validation of lab methods used in legacy and new products within the site. He/She has to identify opportunities for lab method improvements and to plan the realization of the selected opportunities. He/She has to ensure the implementation of these activities are in line with the initial scope (URS) giving by the Site Senior Leadership team, R&D or other global departments. He/She is also responsible for the planning and realization of all lab method validation activities within the site.
  • The incumbent is responsible for people management and talent development responsibilities for a direct team of plus 10 FTEs. He/She has to ensure the development of his/her team members (multi-skill development).
  • He/She has to maintain cross collaboration in and out the local PTS team. Partner with the regional PTS team and the other on-site PTS teams in the MSD Manufacturing Division AH Small Molecules plants to bring all the over-sites Drug Product activities to completion.
  • This position will also be responsible to be a strong interface with the MSD Manufacturing Division AH Tech Ops organization for best practice sharing.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical science or equivalent
  • Proven track record of leading technical organizations in a pharmaceutical area
  • Experience with calibration, qualification and validation principles in pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with overall portfolio management
  • Strong MSD Leadership attributes including a global mindset, end-to-end supply chain view, ability to collaborate across functions and geographies, strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain strong working relationships with technical, quality and operations leaders in the internal and external network, ability to drive the establishment and effective operation of an integrated technology operations function

  • German: advanced (or willing to learn and/or bring it to the required level)
  • English: good (written and spoken)
