To our EBSC office in Bratislava we are currently looking for

VAT Analyst

The Mondelez EBSC is an efficient and innovative shared service provider of high level quality accounting and controlling services. It was established to harmonize and centralize a serving of accounting services the Europe and the Middle East and Africa region, currently to 26 countries within those regions.

This role is accountable for building relationship with VAT team and providing control of VAT returns and ensuring that all VAT reports are in compliance in assigned countries within Europe region. You will also ensure timely and accurate reporting to the management and external authorities. The purpose of this position is also to bring ideas for simplification and harmonization of VAT processes into practice.

In this position you will mostly:
  • Oversee VAT process for Europe region.
  • Coordinate VAT workflow between Mondelez and our vendor.
  • Ensure quality and legal compliance in the area of VAT by random checks of VAT returns and other tax declarations before submission to local tax authorities.
  • Approve and manage approval of VAT returns and other associated tax and statistical declarations.
  • Approve VAT payments.
  • Inform vendor VAT team about procedural, legal or technical changes in Mondelez and provide training as appropriate.
  • Support establishing and continuously improving the ways of working.
  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day issues within assigned country cluster.
  • Monitor other processes performed within the team in order to support with efficient solutions for the future processes.
  • Drive for harmonization and simplification in all VAT processes.
  • Coordinate and support on-boarding additional countries.
  • Initiate, coordinate and test necessary changes in the automated tax determination, mainly in the areas of Accounts Payable, Intercompany and Order to Cash, legislative changes.
  • Coordinate and actively support on VAT matters in strategic projects.
  • Coordinate and support local tax inspections and provision of VAT relevant documents to tax inspectors.
  • Communication with different stakeholders in other departments and areas.
  • Support to other functions with VAT topics.
  • Co-operate with internal controller, internal audit, standard audit and other external sources.
  • Provide VAT and systems training to local key users and other departments within the SSC organization.

Personality requirements and skills

To be successful in this position we need to you have:
  • High school degree in Economics or similar
  • Strong VAT knowledge combined with broader experience of relevant accounting or VAT experience
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of SAP
  • Good level of MS Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Good coordination skills, ability to work effectively
  • Organization of own work, able to work under pressure to meet priorities and deadlines
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Action oriented, proactive and resourceful in solving problems with analytical thinking
  • Well organised and able to multitask
  • Ability to work effectively in an international environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Good team player
  • Customer service orientation
  • Sound understanding of accounting procedures, of GAAP principles, finance processes will be an advantage
  • Broader experience with project work in similar area will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of other language will be a plus
