Job description, responsibilities and dutiesPROGRAM MANAGER

1. JOB SUMMARY

The effective management of Martinrea´s product and process, product design, prototyping, project management and packaging engineering functions. Meet Customer specific quality and product requirements.

2. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Determines and monitors all project goals
• Follow up all facets of the project from cradle to grave
• Conducts project feasibility review
• Documents project management checklists and approvals
• Maintain latest drawings, specifications and other documents per Martinrea’s drawing and specifications control procedure
• Prepares release documents for prototypes, new projects, pilots, engineering changes and miscellaneous orders
• Requisitions tooling, capital and tryout material for projects
• Maintains compliance to Engineering and TS 16949 procedures;
• Communicates with customers, product design, process engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality assurance department
• Value analysis and value engineering ideas
• Conducts and chairs APQP meetings
• Prepares and maintains APQP Documentation
o Program Timing (Gantt Chart)
o Open Issues List
o BOM, PFD
o FMEA
o Tracks design changes
o Design Inputs
o Special/ Critical Characteristic Identification and Pass Through
o Production Released Drawings
o Design Reviews
o Engineering Change Records
o Engineering Change Log
o Program Lessons Learned
o Design Verification Plan and Report
o Capital Appropriations Request/ Submittal and Tracking
o Tooling Appropriations Request / Submittal and Tracking
o Maintains APQP status and reports to Management
• Monitors and assists supplier’s in meeting project goals
• PPAP’s
• Develops/Creates job instructions
• Obtains Customer Authorization to Proceed where needed
• Production Tracking Summaries
• Follows prototype orders to insure customer requirements are met
• Maintains customers’ electronic systems for information exchange
• Responsible to ensure senior management is informed of any program roadblocks, and identify potential solutions
• Effectively motivate and direct APQP Team members by:
o Observing and recognizing the best qualities of the employees and expanding upon them.
o Listening to employee’s problems and/or concerns when they arise and to seek a prompt and mutually acceptable resolution.
o Mentor and guide the team unit when needed.

A. EDUCATION
University degree – Mechanical Engineering or Engineering
Technologist

B. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
• Knowledge of customer specific requirements (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA)
• Knowledge of tube metal forming (bending, end forming) and steel welding processes (resistance, MIG)
• Knowledge of fluid technologies, requirements and products
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills,
• Strong planning, organizational and leadership skills,
• Knowledge of automotive industry processes and operations,
• Strong computer skills,

C. EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 years experience in the automotive industry,
• Minimum 5 years experience in program management,
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience in related field,
• Experience with General Motors and/or Opel is a preference
