Managed Services System Administrator (Linux)
who are we looking for
o Must be able to work in a team environment
o Must show self-initiative and also be willing to follow processes.
o Some schedule flexibility required for covering sick and vacation time. On-call rotation for 2nd level techs (Currently one week of every six)
o Able to perform advanced problem determination and solving including log analysis
o Customer service skills including written and oral communication
o Hands on experience with desktop operating systems ie Windows 7, 8, or Linux and applications running on them for basic business operational functions
Skill Requirements:
Primary Skills: [REQUIRED] Minimum 3-5 years of experience - Linux Operating System
o Able to perform OS installation and upgrades with no supervision
o Advanced administration skills including Linux command line scripting ie BASH, Perl, Python
o Familiarity with RPM package installation and compiling from source
o Able to perform high level problem determination
o Prefer SUSE 10.x or higher versions experience, however other Linux derivatives are fine.
o Core dump analysis including back trace, GDB.
General understanding of storage and file systems
o Experience with Enterprise Clustered File Systems ie General Parallel File System (GPFS), OpenFS, GFS, etc.
o Fiber channel card experience ie QLogic, Emulex, Brocade
o Fiber channel switch experience including QLogic/Brocade Command-Line configuration
Hardware
o Experience with Enterprise class Intel/AMD based servers.
o Blade and standalone
o Able to apply firmware updates with no supervision
o Remote management card experience such as IMM, ILO, BMC, U38, etc.
Networking
o Good knowledge of TCPIP stack and ports
o Understanding of DNS
o Switch command-line experience with CISCO, BNT, or Juniper devices
Additional Skills: [DESIRED] not mandatory
o Monitoring solutions ie IBM Director, Dell Open Manage, CA Unicenter, HP OpenView
o Understand how monitoring systems work
o Able to configure alert mechanisms
o SAP BIA/BWA/HANA or Basis team experience

what will you do
The successful candidate should have strong Linux system administrator skills and a strong background in HW/SW problem determination. Some experience with SAP products is helpful, but not required. English is the required language of the help desk, but additional languages (in particular Spanish) would also be helpful. We are Looking for strong technical candidates, with strong communications skills, that can work in a team and talk effectively with customers.
