JOI Media is an awardwinning software development firm, based in Canada. We are looking for a contractor who is a selfdirected Backend Web Developer. JOI Media’s international product, Katipult, has been growing rapidly and as new clients are onboarded, development needs more resources.

The successful applicant has extensive experience working with MVC frameworks (CakePHP preferred) and is comfortable creating model and controllerlevel code. He or she will work with senior developers on existing Katipult code to create new modules, improve existing functionality, and perform bug fixes. The contractor will work remotely so excellent communication skills are a minimum requirement.

While the contractor can be locationindependent, the company’s business hours occur in Mountain Standard Time, so we expect an overlap at least 4 hours a day.

Katipult is the leading software solution for brokerage, development, and investment firms in need of an Online Syndication or Crowdfunding platform for equity and debt offerings. We provide software infrastructure to create, launch, and maintain compliant platforms for real estate and other investment sectors in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.

Responsibilities

● Creating controller / model code as requested by the senior developers

● Creating selenium tests and maintaining all tests in a QA environment

● Working with Front End Developers on heavier javascript work

● Attending progress meetings via Webex / Skype / Google Hangouts

● Communicating with team members via Slack, Basecamp, Asana

Requirements

● Proficiency with CakePHP or similar MVCs

● Understanding of Unit Testing and Selenium Unit Testing Strategies

● Good teamwork and shared code repository skills

● PHP, MySQL, jQuery, Amazon Web Services Elastic Beanstalk

● Respond to customer feedback & testing

● Selfmotivated and can work independently, while still excelling in a teambased environment

● Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with the Product team

● Familiarity with Google Apps, Basecamp, InvisionApp, and Slack

● University level bachelor’s degree or higher

● 2+ years experience in frontend web development
