Accountant for the Bank Accounting department with Spanish/Portuguese

Johnson Controls is looking for a number of experienced Accountants with Spanish/Portuguese to join our growing Bank Accounting team in our Global Business Centre in Bratislava with 50% US working time. The Bank Accounting team play an important role in ensuring that the financial statements we are reporting are correct, an essential team that play a key role in our internal controls for our cash and back transactions, safeguarding our financial position and legal compliance.  The team is part of our Record to Report Accounting department which provide a shared service center for a range of accounting services to all our global businesses. This also includes intercompany reconciliation, journal entry, general ledger & month end close, fixed assets, financial reporting and audit support.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Daily tasks

* Bank statement posting
* Clearing of outgoing payments with accounts payable postings
* Clearing of treasury transfers
* Inter-company pooled transaction postings
* Active solving/investigating of unreconciled items

Month end closing tasks

* Finalize all postings in foreign currency to old posting period
* Cash pooled analysis
* Banking reconciliations in accordance with SOX general ledger (GL) matrix
* Bank reclass of unreconciled items 
* Local and BMG interest reconciliation
* Book fair value journal for month end hedge position based on information from portal (Quantum)

Other tasks

* Monthly reconciliation of GL accounts (bank account, cash in transit, cash pool, bank overdraft)
* Set-up of GLs for new bank accounts and all necessary iScala configurations
* iScala clearing of settlement “BMG vs. Cash pool clearing"

Your application will be considered if you can evidence the below basic skills and experience:

* Degree in Business Administration or equivalent professional experience in Finance/Accounting
* At least 2 years’ experience of working in a Accounting or Finance position 
* Excel skills 
* minimum intermediate level of English language and intermediate level of Spanish/Portuguese
* Strong communication skills to negotiate with internal customers
* Ability to be proactive and take action to develop new procedures to resolve issues
* Detail orientated with attention to detail
* Strong time management skill, ability to prioritize and work to deadlines
* Team player

It would be an advantage (not essential) if you can also demonstrate the below preferred skills:

* Working knowledge of SAP or Hyperion
