IT System Administrator

Primary Purpose:

Supporting maintenance of the global HR application landscape from a system administration perspective.

Assures the availability and stability of the JCI internal HR applications and the underlying infrastructure including all components needed for integrations to internal and external JCI or service provider applications.

Works closely together with other global IT teams such as Global Infrastructure or Enterprise Integrations to assure the overall availability of the global HR applications including any needed internal and external connectivity.

 

Primary Duties:

 

* Supports the Disaster Recovery activities and maintains Disaster Recovery plans for applications supported by the Global HRIT team.

* Assures SOX compliancy ofthe supported systems working closely as well with the Business Partners as with Internal audit.

* Supports projects to implement new or replace existing IT infrastructure components such as server hardware, database systems or middleware and web server components.

* Establishes and supports effective system monitoring processes to assure system availability and performance.

* Supports the application change management process as it relates to the migration of application changes between development, test and production systems.

* Supports the process of security access requests regarding access to the operating system or database layer of the applications, following the overall access request approval process for HR applications.

* Provides hands-on application and infrastructure support as needed.
JobSpecifications:

 

* At least 5 years of experience in application system and database administration.

* Proven ability to quickly build up working knowledge in previously unknown technologies.

* Proven ability to work effectively in a complex, matrix organization within a multi-national company. 

* Thorough understanding of applications development methodologies, standards and best practices.

* Advanced skills with DBMS systems such as Oracle and operating systems (Windows and Linux mandatory).

* Working knowledge of commonly used scripting languages (Korn-Shell, Powershell, Perl).

* Working knowledge of SQL mandatory, performance analysis skills a plus.

* Working knowledge of 3-tier architecture; knowledge of PeopleTools 8.49 a plus.

* Proven understanding of cultural differences and ability to impact across cultures.

* Strong customer-focused and excellence-driven track record. 

* Demonstrated understanding of customer driven products, services and solutions.

* Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to present technical matters in a simple, clear and concise manner to the targeted audience.  Proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues who use English as a second language.  Must be fluent in English, other languages a plus.
