Job description, responsibilities and duties

Office of the IOM International Organization for Migration in the Slovak Republic is seeking for a candidate for the position of Consultant for Employment and Social Counselling. Under the general supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Bratislava and the Head of Labour Migration Unit the successful candidate will be responsible for employment and social counselling within the services of the IOM Migration Information Centre to Support Integration of Migrants in Slovakia. The Centre provides integration services to migrants in order to enable their better integration into Slovak society and the labour market. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides comprehensive employment counselling to clients, i.e. assistance with proper assessment of their skills and qualification, assist clients with implementing effective employment search strategies, developing career portfolios and interview skills, mediation of contact with employers, individual counselling and social-cultural orientation for clients, preparation of CV s, motivation letters, etc.;
2. Coordinates the provision of re-qualification and educational courses to migrants including processing of the applications, preparation of candidates’ profiles for the selection committee, individual monitoring of each assigned course, co-operation and selection of course providers, promotion of the programme, etc.;
3. Coordinates Low-Threshold Education of the Slovak Language for foreigners;
4. Prepares and helps to design information materials of the social and labour counselling;
5. Assists in the monitoring and evaluation of the project as well as in the preparation of periodic and final reports on activities in compliance with reporting requirements;
6. In cooperation with other members of the project team contributes to the development of new projects aimed at different migration issues, in order to secure the sustainability and continuation of integration/assistance activities to migrants;
7. Develops programs focused on the Migrant Training and Integration including design and implementation of integration programmes that include pre-departure, and post-arrival orientation for a variety of migrant beneficiaries;
8. Prepare records on individual cases, performs case management and maintain client’s folders;
9. Establish and/or maintain contacts with migrant communities, relevant governmental, non-governmental entities as well as other international organisations and local NGOs on project issues;
10. Develop information materials and other supporting documents for target groups;
11. Monitor and update the MIC website, including insertion of updates, communication with website service provider;
12. Continuously process the reports from field project activities and participate in preparation of monitoring reports as appropriate, including financial reports;
13. Prepare various visibility materials in form of presentations, photos, articles, short films or other such as required;
14. Prepare reports, briefings, background information, narratives and statistical analysis as necessary and required;
15. Gather and archive data, information and supporting documentation necessary for the project implementation;
16. Actively participate in the meetings of the project team, as well as attend official meetings and appointments if needed;
17. Act as interpreter/translator (Slovak-English, English-Slovak);
18. Perform procurement, general office maintenance tasks including correspondence, market surveys, logistics;
19. Communicate with the number of national and international stakeholders;
20. Communicate with external partners and relevant actors on related legal and social issues;
21. Participate on other project-related activities, as needed;
22. Assist in evaluation and reviewing of the project progress, including financial monitoring of the relevant budget expenditures in order to ensure effective planning of project activities;
23. Assist in the preparation of periodic and final reports to the donor, including filing and preparation of supporting documentation;
24. Perform other duties assigned by the HoO;

Personality requirements and skills

Required qualifications, experience and skills:
 Master's degree in HR /Social Work / Psychology or similar
 Minimum two years of experience with direct client counselling /employment counselling or relevant direct counselling - an advantage
 Good orientation in social, labour and migration law of the Slovak Republic
 Experience with providing direct assistance, case management, support and intervention, there will be a strong focus on promoting mental / physical health and well-being to this service user group, and a definite focus on labour and social inclusion
 Experience working with migrants, culturally diverse environment – an advantage
 Very good communication, negotiation, analytical and organisation skills
 Flexible, reliable team player with proven networking, negotiation, and partnership building skills
 Ability to function effectively and harmoniously in a fast-paced, cross-cultural work environment;
 Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity
 Personal commitment, efficiency and drive for results
 Experience in developing and implementing activities related to integration issues- an advantage
 Experience in working with governments, civil society and the private sector
 Knowledge of migration and integration issues
 Language skills: Excellent command of spoken and written English and Slovak languages, Russian and/or Arabic language is an advantage
