Job description, responsibilities and duties

Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Slovak Republic is seeking a Resettlement Operations Assistant. Under the general supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Bratislava and Head of Resettlement Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of a wide scope of activities related to the Emergency Transit Centre (ETC) - Humanitarian transfer of refugees in need of international protection through the Slovak Republic.

Specifically, s/he:

• Provides pre-departure and departure information and assistance to refugees. Organizes local transportation from ETC to Kosice airport and vice versa.
• Assists refugees at the airport with check-in, passport control and in terminal.
• Assists refugees at arrival to Kosice airport.
• Liaises with respective authorities at the airport, border and alien police and airlines to ensure a smooth departure of refugees destined for the United States (US) and other resettlement countries.
• Logistically supports RSC Moscow pre-screening interviews, USCIS interviews and RSC Moscow CO sessions of refugees for the purpose of resettlement and as required by donors.
• Assists with the organization of medical examinations, pre-departure medical examinations and medical escorts of refugees for the purpose of resettlement and as required by donors.
• Assists with the organization of contracted interpreters and with identifying new interpreters.
• Communicates with a number of national and international stakeholders
• Gathers and archives data, information and supporting documentation necessary for the project implementation.
• Performs general office maintenance tasks including correspondence, market surveys, logistics, and procurement of technical equipment and office supplies.
• Prepares reports, briefings, background information, narratives and statistical analysis as necessary and required.
• Acts as an interpreter/translator (Slovak-English, English-Slovak).
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Completed Master’s degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Social Science, Economics, Humanities or a related discipline;
• A minimum of one year of experience in refugee migration issues or migration in general;
• A minimum of one year of experience in project implementation and reporting.
