Job description, responsibilities and duties

Office of the IOM International Organization for Migration in the Slovak Republic is seeking for a candidatesfor the position of Consultant for Legal and Social Counselling. Under the general supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Bratislava and the Head of Integration/Labour Migration Unit the successful candidate will be responsible for implementation of legal and social counselling under the EIF project Migration Information Centre to Support Integration of Migrants in Slovakia. The Centre provides information, legal and social counselling services to migrants in order to enable their better integration into Slovak society and the labour market. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the overall guidance of the Head of Office (HoO), the successful candidate will be responsible for assistance in the implementation of all project/s activities. Specifically, s/he will:
1. Provides comprehensive legal counselling to clients, personally or via email or telephone,
2. Collect and regularly update relevant data and legal documents in a database of information related to legal and labour integration of migrants;
3. Prepare records on individual cases, performs case management and maintain client’s folders;
4. Prepare and analyse a counselling statistics;
5. Elaborate legal analyses and statements to relevant laws and other legal documents;
6. Establish and/or maintain contacts with migrant communities, relevant governmental, non-governmental entities as well as other international organisations and local NGOs on project issues
7. Develop information materials and other supporting documents for target groups;
8. Monitor and update the MIC website, including insertion of updates, communication with website service provider;
9. Continuously process the reports from field project activities and participate in preparation of monitoring reports as appropriate, including financial reports.
10. Prepare various visibility materials in form of presentations, photos, articles, short films or other such as required.
11. Prepare reports, briefings, background information, narratives and statistical analysis as necessary and required.
12. Gather and archive data, information and supporting documentation necessary for the project implementation.
13. Actively participate in the meetings of the project team, as well as attend official meetings and appointments if needed.
14. Act as interpreter/translator (Slovak-English, English-Slovak).
15. Perform general office maintenance tasks including correspondence, market surveys, logistics, and procurement of technical equipment and office supplies.
16. Communicate with the number of national and international stakeholders
17. Communicate with external partners and relevant actors on related legal and social issues;
18. Participate on other project-related activities, as needed;
19. Assist in evaluation and reviewing of the project progress, including financial monitoring of the relevant budget expenditures in order to ensure effective planning of project activities;
20. Assist in the preparation of periodic and final reports to the donor, including filing and preparation of supporting documentation;
21. Perform other duties assigned by the HoO.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
• University degree in Law;
• Orientation in social, labour and migration law of the Slovak Republic and/or human rights law; familiarity with integration projects and procedures – an advantage;
• Experience with legal and/or social counselling work – an advantage;
• Experience working with migrants, migration management, and international migration issues – an advantage;
• Very good communication, negotiation, analytical and organisation skills. Personal commitment, efficiency and drive for results.
• Excellent computer skills;
• Driving license – an advantage.
