Job description:
• IT Specialists in this job role have expertise in translating IT requirements in the design, development, and assembly of components to create custom information systems. Typical examples of the deliverables are functional and technical designs, models, components, code, unit tests, and documentation.
• We are seeking to hire a Junior Developer at the Continuous Innovation Team. We are looking for candidates to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers and business professionals focused on the next generation of software.
• The candidate must have demonstrated technical and critical thinking skills, a passion for technology and software, demonstrated teaming skills, and show leadership potential.
• Having the ability to turn ideas into reality, communicate effectively, and work closely with others is essential.
• They'll use the latest tools and technologies available to deliver state-of-the-art software components


Main duties and responsibilities:
• Work alongside developers, QA testers and project managers to deliver a wide range of
applications aimed to automate business processes
• Develop stand-alone Java applications
• Work alongside other developers and senior leadership to learn from the best and develop their ongoing technical knowledge and career
• Help troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• A computer science degree or similar, or equivalent experience
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Very good English (oral and written communication skills)
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing
priorities
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with changing priorities
• Ability to quickly pick up new technologies, languages with ease


Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

To give you further guidance, you will need the following skills to successfully work with us:
Essential:
• Knowledge of Java programming language
• Ability to write object oriented, structured, high-performance and reusable Java code
Desirable:
• Understanding of relational and non-relational database programming
• Exposure to JavaScript front-end frameworks (such as Backbone, JQuery or AngularJS)
• Some knowledge/experience around Node.js would be a plus
