Senior Finance Analyst 

Job description
IBM Finance organization is an integral part of the IBM Corporation covering every geography and business unit within IBM. It is the "knowledge behind the numbers" that are presented quarterly and annually to the global financial community. We are considered a key player in driving the success of our company and a strategic financial advisor to the business.

The analyst role is responsible for the analysis of the IBM forecast, budget, actuals, and business dynamics. The analyst is responsible for interacting with the business units and geographies on the forecast, actuals, budget and business metrics. The analyst is responsible for the development of forecast and budget variance analysis and provides business assessments on an on going basis. The analyst designs, prepares, and presents detailed analysis of business issues and recommended solutions to senior management.

Working within IBM's largest Service business and providing financial advisory services to Strategic Outsourcing organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of end-to-end financial services including all aspects of revenue and cost management, forecasting and planning. As a member of the contract management team, you will exercise substantial influence to ensure that the financial objectives of the contract are met. In addition, as a senior member of the finance & planning team, you will be expected to show a high degree of proactivity, innovation and collaboration.

Core responsibilities:
  • overall responsibility for cash cycle, invoicing and revenue recognition together with respecting revenue recognition rules and assisting in all aspects of cash collection.
  • exercise strong communication skills to influence the business in all aspects of profit maximisation.
  • ensure that the business is fully informed at all times.
  • deep cost analysis, coupled with an enquiring nature and determined approach to minimize cost.
  • ensuring overall financial management in line with contractual obligations.
  • modelling/what-if analysis in support of business development strategies.
  • identification of risk, impact analysis and recommendation of alternatives for mitigation.
  • oversee / provide guidance to less senior members of the Finance team.
  • show leadership in the over-arching Finance centre strategy, and contribute to a climate which remains fresh, exciting and motivational.

    • Required
    • Master's Degree
    • At least 2 years experience in knowledge of financial process and accounting principles, including revenue recognition, accruals / deferrals and business controls
    • At least 2 years experience in strong logical and analytical skills together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work across boundaries applying a problem solving approach and also good organiz
    • At least 2 years experience in proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
    • English: Fluent
