Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to make products and equipment designed by new project available in the local market place, as well as make globally sourced products and equipment available for our operations in the USA.
In this role, you will develop, implement and manage category-sourcing strategies for allocated portfolio of expenditure. For both areas, the main portfolio will be 3rd party equipment and services plus contract manufacturing.
The focus will be on sourcing, selection, contracting, and contract management / project execution support, based on Quality, Logistics, Technology and Cost.
Scope of Work:
Source, select and contract suppliers, subcontractors, contract manufacturers.
Source and qualify suppliers on technical capabilities, quality levels, cost levels, logistics capabilities, etc
Develop proposals, for review with users, quality and management, regarding supplier approval/specification changes that will add value on Quality, Logistics, Technology and Cost
Develop, negotiate, and manage/monitor, contracts, supply and service level agreements, etc.
Manage a supplier in the operational /series production phase
Evaluate objective vendor performance data, (supplied by projects, other users and the Quality Department) and take action to develop, improve or remove suppliers
Assist manufacturing, projects and/or quality department in the resolution of critical/repetitive performance failures by suppliers within their portfolio
Manage supply chain related projects like the localization of equipment
Act as or support the Global Category Managers with key regional market and supply base information
Investigate and monitor supply market trends and evaluate/select suppliers
Establish the risks & vulnerabilities presented by market trends and supply chain developments
Develop, implement and manage category-sourcing strategies
Qualifications :
Graduate Degree in Engineering
Strong technical background and expertise for anticipated commodity portfolio
5+ years global experience in Project Engineering/Operations/Supply Chain Management/Sourcing/Procurement
Experience with organizations in a project environment
CIPS and/or CPM certification desired
Awareness of market forces that impact business opportunities and threats
Interpersonal skills appropriate for a negotiator
Strong verbal, written and presentational communication skills
Strong PC and quantitative analysis skills
Experience with ERP systems
Experience in continuous improvement programs, either on the shop floor or in an office environment
