Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

To operate large IT outsourcing customers, HP Enterprise defined a standard operation framework; it is a set of IT service management processes (ITIL) and associated technical tooling solutions deployed across the whole customer base: workflow, monitoring, service level reporting, configuration database, discovery, patching, service request management tools, automation, etc. The design will cover the end to end service management tools required to operate the client: ticketing tool, monitoring, reporting, patching, configuration database, system integrations, self-service customer portal, automation, etc

This position is within the Global Engineering and Technical Consulting (GETC) organization, as part the Service Management and Tools capability. You will own defining the service management tooling solution used by HPE to provide a variety of IT outsourcing services to customers (workplace services, datacenter services, storage, cloud solutions, etc.). For each customer, you will steer the solution towards a maximum re-use of HPE standards. You will also ensure that the service management tooling solution is fit for purpose and in line with HPE contractual obligations. You will identify any solution gap and address it, working closely with internal tooling experts, other HPE departments or HPE Software professional services.

You will primarily be engaged post-sales to define the tooling solution design and provide technical guidance to the project team for implementation. You will also bring your expertise in presales phase, to help sales to finalize the high level design.

You will need to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. The position requires to act as an end to end architect/solution designer, providing directions and working with tools and process experts, each for their domain. You will need to lead and/or provide technical expertise to functional project team working closely with project managers.

Job specifics/responsibilities:

• Lead the onboarding of new clients into HPE standard tooling framework: define and document the high level design, maximize re-use of existing standard building blocks and address any gaps.
o The design will cover the end to end service management tools required to operate the client: ticketing tool, monitoring, reporting, patching, configuration database, system integrations, self-service customer portal, automation, etc
o Evaluate current state, determine future state and design/document the HPE tooling architecture and the integration points with customer systems.
o Own documenting the high level design. Review and sign-off the design with internal HPE stakeholders and customer representatives.
o Guide experts who will produce low level designs, each for the tool/process they are responsible for. Ensure the end to end solution is fit for purpose, cost effective and leverages HPE standards.
o Review the solution against HPE contractual obligations and compare with the planned service management solution. Highlight any risk/gap and work closely with the project manager and project team to close them.
o Collaborate with the project manager to help define work break down structures and detailed project plans
o Oversee and provide technical governance to the team during implementation and test phases
• Engage in presales opportunities to drive standards, advise sales and define solutions to achieve customer requirements.
o Focus on the solution design
o Document known risks and assumptions
o Review draft statement of work
o Contribute to the definition of the required implementation effort
• Capture and share lessons learnt, contribute to HPE tools architect community sharing and receiving information
• Identify potential improvements in the service management solutions used across the customer base. Contribute to specifying these improvements.
• Engage in “job1” implementations of new solutions, where tooling building blocks need to either be defined or be amended. This applies to the introduction of “new style of IT” services which require that HPE enhance tooling solutions (new cloud offers, managed workplace, automation, etc).

Personality requirements and skills

Education (degree) and professional experience required:

• 10+ years of professional experience and a master degree in engineering, computer science, Management information systems. Relevant experience in IT outsourcing or within a large IT department.

• Essential:
o Strong technical background with past exposure to multiple IT technologies (networking, wintel/linux, apps development, cloud, workplace solutions)
o Past experience of designing and implementing IT services and solutions.
o Exposure to service management tools and processes, at minimum as a user
o Client facing experience

• Desirable:
o Experience/understanding of a variety of service management tools sold by HPE or competitors: Self-service portal, request management portal, system integration, discovery tools, uCMDB or other configuration tools, HPE operation manager or equivalent monitoring tools, Business Service Management, HPE Service Manager workflow tool, business intelligence reporting, etc.
o Past project management experience
o Network security concepts
o ITIL V3 foundation, TOGAF v9 is a plus
