HP Traineeship IT – Young Potentials

At the start of the HP Graduate IT Program, depending on your background, there are two directions to choose from: Solution Leads or Solution Designers. Solution Leads are responsible for the end to end solution through the pursuit lifecycle to contract signature and handover to delivery, this includes over sight of the solution design and enablement for HP’s services, capabilities and partner relationships as well as costing and internal HP governance. This role needs a balance between understanding business and technology and as such has more of a technology generalist, rather than specialist, requirement. Over 24 months, this program is designed to give you the support you need, and the technical, professional and personal skills to kick start your career.

Solution Designers generally specialize in one technology domain or capability, these capabilities are Cloud, Data Centre, Networking, Security, Workplace and Cross Functional (tools). Within the pursuit team they are responsible for understanding the client requirements and subsequently designing, costing and articulating the solution for their domain. This role requires deep, rather than generalist, understanding of your technology domain as well as a good understanding of business and an ability to communicate both written and verbally.



The Program
It all starts with a two-week on-boarding course that covers our business and how you fit into it, as well as the skills you’ll need to hit the ground running in your new role. From here, you’ll take your first steps in your HP career – straight away, you’ll be given a real role and placed on a live pursuit. Initially, you’ll play a supporting role but as your experience and competency develops, so will your responsibilities.

Through this on-the-job learning, and support from expert colleagues, plus ongoing training and mentoring, we aim to develop you into a confident, client-facing individual who can lead a team, identify opportunities and deliver quality solutions. As Solution Leads you will receive training on presentation and project management skills as well as an overview of all relevant technical areas.

We’ll use our resources and expertise to turn you into a trusted lead solution architect or solution designer. In these roles, you’ll be building strong relationships with our clients – understanding their business problems and aspirations and helping to devise innovative and compelling solutions that allow maximum value to be derived by both HP and the client.
