Job description, responsibilities and duties

Business Environment:
HP Enterprise Services is a leader in managing, operating, and designing Outsourced IT and Business Process solutions across a range of industry sectors including Defense, Government, Financial Services and Health. Technical solutions include desktop, datacentre, data communications and software applications. Traditional and cloud solutions are cornerstones of HP services business.

Role:
Responsible for writing and developing effective proposal and presentations that fulfill client requirements and that relate to the HP solution and value proposition in a compelling manner. He/she initiates the writing process, allowing proposal content to develop concurrently with solutioning activities. Initially he/she will use the Proposal Web and other related knowledge management tools, which provides a rich source for proposal / presentation content. In addition he/she will use journalistic writing techniques and technical product knowledge to interview the solution team during the Solution Development Process.

Primary Responsibilities & Deliverables:
• Develops written proposal content and presentations using best-in-class intellectual capital (references, hybrid pre-populated proposal examples, guidelines, templates, recommended approaches, etc.)
• Attends Win Strategy Labs, Solution Storyboard sessions, and solution meeting(s) to understand solution, value proposition, win themes, and differentiators to write compelling, client-facing content
• Develops the proposal storyboard(s), updating as necessary in a facilitated discussion with key pursuit team members (guides the writing of each section ensuring the value proposition and the technical and business solutions are appropriately connected to each section of the proposal)
• Works closely with solution team to understand the proposed solution
• Coaches Solution Leaders, Tower Leaders and any other contributors developing proposal content (using the Proposal Storyboard output or writer’s guide as appropriate)
• Solicits input from SMEs, including content contributed from different service lines, Alliance Partners, HR, Legal, etc. as needed to provide accurate content
• Assists with writing associated Executive Summary’s
• Develops appropriate graphics to illustrate or emphasise key information
• Adapts biographies or resumes to meet RFP requirements
• Meets draft milestones
• Conducts initial review of sections and establishes consistency between sections and as needed, augments proposal content drafts provided by SME writers
• Adheres to consistent writing style, constructs, etc., as defined by HP brand and style guide
• Participates in Proposal Red Team review and incorporates revisions
• Ensures proposal and presentation deliverables meet client expectations and are well written, concise and demonstrates an integrated solution across towers

Organizational Linkage:
• Collaborates with pursuit teams / solution lead and internal/external technical and sales specialists.
• Acts as the interface to establish consistency between proposal sections and as needed, augments proposal content drafts provided by SME writers.

Requirements:
• Five or more years’ experience as a pre-sales IT (Preferably outsourcing) Technical Writer and or an IT related Journalist with strong motivation and drive.
• Proven ability to create client focused / facing pre-sales presentations.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English. In addition an added bonus would be both written and spoken proficiency in one of the following languages – Dutch, Swedish, German.
• Ability to work either remotely or face to face in fast paced client facing high performance / multicultural teams with a high degree of flexibility and ability to accept and process changes on short notice.
