Job description, responsibilities and duties

NMS and Technical Systems Team. Responsible to the development and management of company network management systems,including monitoring, inventory, access and all management systems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Proven track record in managing a team of technical engineers to develop network management systems and deliver operational support
• Problem Management/Incident Management of all NMS related issues
• Day to day management of the software support team to ensure provision of support to all NMS systems in line with agreed SLA/OLA’s
• Adhere to Change Control, Change Log, and Downtime Log procedures for all critical services
• Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery
• Deliver a roadmap of planned systems development and change in line with business requirements
• Budget and plan systems changes and upgrades in line with systems lifecycle
• Capacity planning and management of all NMS systems in line with business growth and technical requirements
• Ensure that the team Perform Root Cause Analysis of high impact incidents and necessary reports created to support major incidents
• Create & maintain a set of processes & procedures to ensure best practice is employed in the support of these solutions
• Liaison with 3rd party support teams to ensure the correct resolution following best practice methodology
• Plans ahead and establishes appropriate courses of action to achieve objectives. Monitors performance against targets and determines appropriate actions to ensure the necessary corrective action is taken

Experience Required
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• University degree, preferably engineering/computer sciences or mathematics

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
• Previous Telco OSS/NMS and Network experience. Must be able to demonstrate expert knowledge.
• 3 years of Advanced UNIX/LINUX System Administration (Solaris, RHE, HPUX)

• Hands-on experience with monitoring and network management systems, such as:
o Monitoring Systems (EMC Smarts)
o Inventory Systems
o Network Reporting Systems (EMC Watch4Net)
o Cramer
• Able to work within tight time-scales and manage priorities as required
• Database development skills, MySQL / SqlServer
• Good written and verbal communications skills in English
• Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience of supporting business critical applications in a 24*7 environment.
• Experience is implementing processes to deliver support to the business
• ITIL Service Level Management or equivalent experience

• A business and network systems professional with at least 5 years past telecoms or ICT service industry experience
• Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing largescale projects • Flexible, proactive individual with a strong management systems architecture, development and networking skills
• A self-starter who is capable of managing fast moving environments
• Excellent attitude towards work
• Able to successfully manage virtual teams and 3rd parties
• Responsible person capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to work within tight time-scales and manage priorities
