Structural Engineer, Structural Steel calculations

Our client, the company Babcock & Wilcox Vølund, is one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and technologies designed to convert household waste and biomass into thermal energy. BWV is opening state-of-the-art engineering centre in Trenčín where 27 experienced mechanical engineers will be located. Chosen mechanical engineers will get training in Danish maternity company and later on will be involved in huge international projects in cooperation with Danish and Swedish engineers.

Specifics of the role include:
- Static calculations of large steel structures including principal details.
- Preparation of PDMS model of large steel structures.
- Design and optimization of steel constructions for boiler, galleries etc.
- Preparation of 2D foundations loads plans and assembly details.
- Design of structural support steel for minor components and piping.
- Inspection, assessment and rehabilitation design of existing structures.
- Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex structures
- Ability to work under occasional pressure within tight timeframes
- Experience in preparation of technical specifications, report writing, technical engineering support, and inspection during construction, and documentation.

Requirements:

- Certified Structural Engineer with min. 5 year experience in structural design
- Master's degree a plus
- Structural problem analysis skills
- Analytical and structured approach
- Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools, including finite element analysis software
- Experience with static calculations of large steel structures
- Experience with SCIA is a must
- Experience with 3D plant layout modeling in PDMS is advantage
- Knowledge of common software design tools, Autocad 2D, MS Excel and Word
- Knowledge of various European standards including EN 1090-1:2009, EN 1090- 2+A1:2011, Eurocode
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing in English
- Experience from working on projects
- Good interpersonal skills
- Team player able to share information across the organization.
