Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Project Manager will be integrated in the GWP CEE Regional Secretariat, located at the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute. The position is based in Bratislava, Slovakia (some days per month also home based) with occasional travel in the Danube region.

The role of the Project Manager is to coordinate the work of GWP CEE within the DriDanube project in cooperation with the IDMP CEE Programme Manager. He/she also has to ensure the integration of the GWP network in implementation of the project, as assuring an efficient involvement of Country Water Partnerships and their Partners organizations, whenever needed.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
• To assume a role of a Communication Manager for the DriDanube project (in cooperation with the GWP CEE Communication Officer).
• To be in charge of the planning, coordination and implementation of the project’s Communication Plan and coordinate the involvement of all partners in communication activities.
• To coordinate and prepare project promotional materials (leaflets, poster, project fact sheets, etc.) and promotional activities (newsletter, media relations, etc.).
• To regularly update the project website (as part of the Danube Transnational Programme webpage) and to share relevant project news with GWP CEE Communication officer for GWP CEE web page and social media channels.
• To ensure that DriDanube communication activities are integrated into GWP´s work plans at regional and country levels.
• To coordinate the implementation of GWP CEE work in other work packages as it is described in the Application Form (in cooperation with the IDMP CEE Programme Manager; follow up the development of the project main outputs and planning communication activities/products in connection with them).
• To cooperate with the second Slovak partner in the project – Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, in preparation of the national inputs.
• To coordinate and organize together with the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute and GWP Slovakia national events planned in the project.
• To manage GWP CEE project budget and cash flow in compliance with the Danube Transnational Programme, national (Slovak) and GWP Financial Guidelines.
• To responsibly undertake other tasks related with DriDanube defined by the DriDanube lead partner (or other partners) or other GWP CEE activities defined by GWP CEE secretariat staff.

REPORTING AND ADMINISTRATION
• To prepare GWP CEE Partner Report every 6 months:
a. Content report describing progress made by GWP CEE in particular reporting period for the project.
b. Financial report – preparation of documentation in cooperation with the IDMP CEE Programme Manager and Administration Officer for the national controllers
• To compile the inputs which are obligatory for GWP CEE in relation to GWP system of reporting, i.e. monthly reports, quarterly financial reports, annual report and annual audit.
• To participate in Annual Audit of the GWP CEE that is undertaken by external regional auditor or any other internal audits as necessary.
• To participate in DriDanube, Danube Transnational Programme, Regional Council meetings or any other meetings called by GWP CEE Regional Coordinator.
• To undertake any other activities as requested by GWP CEE Regional Coordinator.
• To organize selection of subcontractors according to procurement rules of the Danube Transnational Programme and national legislation.

Employment criteria
• Advanced university degree in relevant discipline(s) (e.g.: communications, environment)
• at least 3 years of experience with management of the EU funded project
• at least 2 years of experience with communication activities in environmental sphere
• Excellent English language skills in understanding, reading, writing and speaking
• proficiency in Microsoft Office; MS Office, Internet and publishing software; experience on website management would be an asset
• good computer skills, use of Skype and other teleconference tools
• excellent written and oral communications skills

• level of knowledge of water and environmental issues in the region
• level of experience and knowledge of the project communication activities
• experience in and ambition to work in an international environment with different administrative traditions;

• knowledge of other languages of the CEE region is of advantage

RELATIONSHIPS
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships and team spirit with GWP CEE secretariat staff, DriDanube project partners, Danube Transnational Programme, Regional Council, Country Water Partnerships, Partners, GWPO and all other constituencies that are important to the success of the GWP network.
• Liaise with GWP CEE staff members and DriDanube project partners to seek advice and share information and experience that may benefit the entire GWP network.
