Job description, responsibilities and duties

• Works collaboratively with different teams to administer the build out and support SQL Server 2008 & 2012 & 2014 & 2016 databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production system
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance (SCOM), to ensure high levels of performance, availability, security and focuses on automation to streamline tasks and manage the environments.
• Assist developers with the creation and maintenance of robust, scalable database code.
• Enforce SQL standards and guidelines.
• Assist with the testing of database hardware and software upgrades.
• AlwaysON, Database mirroring, High Availability & Clustering, TSQL, Performance Tuning, SSIS Packages, Replication, Database Links, Maintenance Plan / SQL Job usage.
• Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation in support of production issues.
• Identifies and initiates resolutions to user problems/concerns associated with SQL Server

Personality requirements and skills

To be successful in this role, you need:
• 4+ years of MS SQL Server DBA experience in an operational support environment (60%) and development team support (40%)
• Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server ( 2005 – 2016 )
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, integrity issues, security issues etc.
• Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
• Experience in implementing operational automation, complex deployments and basic change management practices
• Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SCOM, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs)
• SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design ( stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints and SSIS packages )
• Experience with complicated database organizational structures, triggers, and stored procedures.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand user requests and translate them into technical requirements.
• Experience documenting new and existing processes, as well as updating existing documentation when changes are necessary.
