Job description, responsibilities and duties

The application developer is to drive the implementation and maintenance of Java web based interfaces and applications within the First Data Application Architecture. This person will be part of several smaller/middle sized projects related to enhancing and maintaining several backend and web applications.

• Development of Java web applications
• Plan / build / configure / develop solutions within the specified timelines.
• Develop system test plans to ensure a comprehensive approach to delivering quality technology solutions to the business.
• Address all reported defects within a timely fashion.
• Initiate and coordinate production handover. Ensure success of setting new versions into production. Provide on-call duty for supporting the production handover.
• Stay active and current in business technology trends, direction and innovation related to business process and technology areas of focus for the position.

Design services / applications and develop distributed, highly
scalable, efficient, and fault-tolerant systems in Java technology area.

• Expert knowledge preferably in several following technologies:
J2EE: JSP, JSF, Web service (Axis / Axis2), JDBC, EJB, Application servers (JBoss, WebSphere), Servlets, Apache Struts, Apache Wicket
XML, XSLT, HTML, JavaScript Spring, Hibernate, SQL, relational databases (Oracle, DB2 and HSQL preferred) Maven, Ant, Eclipse, Jetty, Apache Tomcat ActiveMQ / Enterprise Service Bus, e.g. Mule (incl. develop and implement best practices and policies for ESB/SOA)

•Strong background in developing applications with graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
•Experience in taking the projects from the requirements phase to the delivery phase using the full software development life cycle.
•English - expert (interpreting), German (optional / plus)
