Job description, responsibilities and duties

ESET, Slovakia’s best IT employer, is looking for C#/.NET developers.

We need skills, talent and initiative. You might have years of experience, or you might be just starting out; if you think you have what it takes to do this job, we are interested in talking to you.

Join us and you will:

• Process requirements for a new functionality – you’ll need to know the problem area, understand the assignment and, if necessary, specify it with your customer within ESET. Tasks are normally addressed through JIRA, and will be scheduled in each development cycle.

• Work with a wide range of technologies – including, but not limited to Microsoft .NET framework, ASP.NET/ASP.NET MVC, Angular 2, REST/WebAPI, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft SQL Server.

• Analyze and specify – In some cases, assignments are not sufficient grounds for implementation, or may not contain a technical solution, and you must therefore (alone or together with other members of the team) be familiar with analysis and specification procedures, and (if you take a senior position) with making proposals for systems architecture.

• Develop – on a scheduled basis. Depending on the nature of the project, specification of individual tasks varies; sometimes it's a verbal assignment, sometimes a complex specification. You’ll need to know how to adapt to both: we are not looking for robots but for people with common sense and a focus on objectives (just "turning up for work" is not an objective!).

• Communicate – internally within your team, with other departments, and also with external clients outside HQ (branches, partners – for which you will need English). We are proud of our open, direct style at ESET so don’t be afraid to make your views known.

Other benefits

Join us and we will:

• Pay you a competitive salary – We don’t advertise salaries online, but if you think you can do the job, then tell us what you think we should pay you.
• Help you save for later in life – by contributing to your retirement savings.
• Recognize that your family is also important – by paying you a bonus when you get married or have children.
• Pay you a transport allowance – whether you commute by car, tram, bicycle or on foot.
• Provide meal vouchers – at a value well above the statutory level, for every day you work. We pay the whole cost of these.
• Hydrate you – with unlimited, free, high-quality coffee, tea, fruit juice and mineral water in our offices.
• Feed you breakfast – with free rolls and salads, provided you arrive early! Free fruit and other snacks are also on offer.
• Feed your soul – with personal development to help you grow on the job. With your supervisor’s consent, you can attend training courses, presentations, professional conferences and improve your language skills, compliments of ESET.
• Help you refocus – We don’t want you to spend the whole day sitting behind a computer, so you also get free gym membership.
• Include you in the wider ESET team – with a number of company-sponsored events for employees and families throughout the year, so we can relax and enjoy some leisure time together.

Brief description of the company

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD. In 1992, together with their mutual friend Rudolf Hrubý, they formally established ESET.

What started as the brainchild of a few friends has evolved into the most valuable international brand of any Slovak company. Today ESET’s NOD32 technology protects over 100 million users across the world.

This success did not come overnight. The company’s global success and growth was given a boost in 1998 with its first “VB100” award from the prestigious Virus Bulletin magazine. Since then, we’ve received this accolade more than 80 times.

Today, over 1,000 employees around the world drive the company’s success − more than 450 of them in Slovakia, the home of ESET headquarters. We put great emphasis on research and development. In addition to seven regional centers, we are building a network of technology centers around the world – at present numbering nine.

Throughout the company’s expansion, we have stayed true to the principles on which we were founded, and we remain independent in order to continue to meet new challenges.
