Job description, responsibilities and duties

EMSA Capital takes an active role in driving performance improvement initiatives within its investee companies. The Analyst will work under the guidance of Investment Managers, supervised by the Managing Director.

Education and skills:
- University education in finance, economics or business studies
- At least 2 years’ experience in accounting, audit or valuations is required
- Accounting qualification or an enrollment in ACCA, CFA program or similar are an advantage
- Advanced Excel and solid PowerPoint skills are required
- Other IT skills are an advantage
- Very good written and spoken English, fluency is an advantage
- German and CEE language skills are an advantage

Desired abilities:
- Can do attitude, ability to prioritize work and perform independently, even under pressure
- Attention to detail in both numbers and written documents
- Good business acumen combined with good self-organization and ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel throughout CEE

Primary responsibilities:
1. Financial procedures, systems and reporting
- Assist with preparation of budgets and cash flow projections
- Analyze financial statements and prepare variance reports
- Implement financial policies and procedures
- Assist with annual audits

2. Revenue and cost controlling
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and debts. Project future revenues and expenses and provide advice
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, prepare periodic reports comparing budget to actuals
- Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
- Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts

3. Valuations
- Compile market information on share prices and corporate performance
- Calculate investment metrics and valuation multiples
- Assist with quarterly valuations of portfolio companies
