Job description, responsibilities and duties
Work in this company is not just an ordinary IT support. Software products that they develop are complex meteorological systems deployed at meteorological offices, airports, military bases and private companies. The support they provide is not a semi-automatic drill according to corporate manuals. It is rather a creative process: determining the actual cause of a customer's problem, discussing the issue with developers, analysing and independently suggesting a solution, learning along the way.
In your role as a support engineer, you will be cooperating with the developers of the software, smart people with a lot to learn from who care about the customers. Plus, they are the actual authors of the code!
Duties and responsibilities:
* Provision of remote support for customers with maintenance contract
* Proposing solution or workaround of the problem; determining root cause of problem and carrying out corrective action
* Remote deployment of hotfixes on customer systems
* Remote update of software on customer systems
* Advising end users in using company's products

Our client develops meteorological systems for professional weather users. Major use case in our products is visualisation of weather data in form of geospatial maps, graphs or tables with values or icons. All this content is provided by back-end web services. We intend to build mobile applications to deliver weather content to general public users as well as professional meteorologists where much higher level of interactivity is required. We play with the idea of using Xamarin to target all 3 major mobile platforms and reuse code. We use Python to prototype various functionalities but core of our back-end systems is developed in C++ and some parts in Java. We usually expose JSON-RPC or RESTful web service interfaces to do all the clever logic on servers while clients tend to be lightweight, but still non-trivial and feature reach.
