The Dell accounting department of 120 people in Bratislava is mainly responsible for US GAAP accounting across all of EMEA with some roles covering various accounting processes globally.

The main ongoing responsibilities within the department involve:

• 'Closing the books' and ensuring the financial statements are accurate each month.

• Support of audits and statutory filings each year, working closely with external auditor, internal compliance and internal audit teams.

• Close cooperation with financial planning and analysis, global financial services and tax teams on a regular basis in order to ensure clear concise analysis and to allow precise management decision making.

The accounting organization is structured according to specific legal entities or specific centralized processes. Following teams are process-oriented: Revenue Recognition, Software and Peripherals accounting, Accounts Receivable Accounting, Consolidations, Fixed Assets and Centralized OPEX for both EMEA and US. Teams involved in accounting for legal entities are divided according to geography of EMEA region and are responsible both for managerial and statutory accounting.

From a development perspective the Accounting Organization is a key function within Finance and a great place to start a Finance Career within the company. In particular Accounting roles develop peoples Controllership, Technical competence and Analytical skills which are valuable skills required for a successful Finance Career.
