Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are mobi. And we’re looking for some more awesome senior developers to help us grow our team. Here’s a little about our team, if you think you’d be a good fit, apply using the link below!

The Company:

mobi is not only headquartered in the fastest growing technology center in the United States, but also literally at the center of it all in Austin, Texas at 7th and Congress.

We code systems that crunch large streams of real-time GPS data by wielding complex geo-location algorithms. Some call it big data, we call it Monday. Our front-end code serves up this data in an easy-as-pie, business-friendly view. We crunch it, and we serve it. mobi provides an end-to-end solution that helps companies plan work, optimize routes, visualize GPS data and analyze the results. We’re innovating here – but we can’t tell you about it, until at least our second date.

The Role:

Our team is all about getting s#!t done. We are pragmatic problem solvers who pull from a diverse technology tool set.

- Write killer code in many languages – solid and robust

- Test before, during, and after – TDD on steroids

- Core tech stack is JVM/Java/Groovy, JS/AngularJS and SQL

- Thirst and passion for raising the bar and making it better than it is now

- Social team players in a real open space environment with music and significant shenanigans

- Have a large tool box: Clojure (functional paradigms), Ruby/Chef/DevOps, Sinatra/Rails, hardcore shell scripting, high performance C++ engines, SQL datamarts, sproc-ing and data pumping; you must have enough tools to use the right one for the job

- We are real-deal Agile: good design, heavy testing, continuous delivery, pair programming in an open space environment, and lots of communication

- Have an optimization platform that uses genetic algorithms and economic modeling to create optimal solutions to the ‘Traveling Salesman’ problem

- Embrace the inner, twisted technologist – hackathons, side projects, open source

Enjoy ping pong, nerf bullets, and long walks on the beach ;)

At mobi, we offer the opportunity to work with other cutting-edge innovators in a fun and engaging environment. We save our customers millions of dollars in operating costs every month. We partner with major network providers and channel specialists who represent all the key players in the fleet management space. We are a small, Austin-based company that has a global impact.

Our development team tackles things like algorithm optimization, mobile app development, processing pipelines, scaling dirty data, and optimal web UI views. If this sounds interesting to you, we’d love to talk to you!
