• Mastering C++ or Java or willingness to become master over a weekend.
• Developing of complex IT systems with hundreds thousand lines of code.
• Understanding how code works on hardware (network has latency, CPU has caches, threads tend to deadlock, web services love to time-out, to Big Endian or not to be?, and race
• conditions cause crashes)
• Not just having in CV, but hands-on experience with lots of IT buzz-words - the longer the better! (JPA, SQL, XML, JSON, CSS, HTML5, RTFM, EC2, RegEx, Shibboleet... and thousands
• of others)
• Utilizing scripting languages where appropriate (Python, Java Script, Action Script, Bash, Perl, Groovy, Velocity, JSF).
• Being pacifist in Linux vs Windows vs rest-of-the-world war
• Belief that anything you know and use is not the Holy Grail, simply because the World changes and some people also live in parallel Worlds.
• Attending any geeky IT knowledge game; writing fluent 3ngl1$h in 1337; loving board games; or having password with >128 bits of entropy
