Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for an experienced Teacher of English whose responsibility will be involved in the delivery of English throughout the Secondary School.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication, organizational and classroom management skills, meet deadlines and work well under pressure. A genuine interest in the all-round welfare of students is essential as is being able to work independently and as a member of a team. As well as teaching, the colleague would be expected to develop assessments, contribute to schemes of work, keep detailed student records and take an active part in the development of the faculty. Ideas and initiatives are welcomed.

A willingness to take part in English-related extra-curricular activities, both locally and nationally, would also be expected.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of six teachers and be able, and willing, to teach across the age and ability range. In particular, the experience and knowledge to deliver the IB Diploma in A1 English and IGCSE English Language and Literature would be essential. Although direct experience of IB is not required, a background in a parallel post-16 programme like A Level will be highly desirable. There is also the possibility of some EAL teaching.
