Job description, responsibilities and duties
The British Embassy in Slovakia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Senior Trade & Investment Adviser to join the Department for International Trade (DIT) team.
Department for International Trade (DIT) is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to succeed in Slovakia and other international markets. DIT also assists overseas companies to bring high-quality investment to the UK’s economy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying specific opportunities for UK companies and helping UK firms enter and grow their business in the Slovak market.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the position are as follows, although the job holder will be required to take on other tasks and roles as required and as directed by the Head of DIT:
• Develop and deliver strategic campaigns based on identifying specific market opportunities in selected sectors, engage UK companies on these opportunities and ultimately support them to win business in Slovakia; Main sectors include: Automotive, Defence & Security, Energy and Infrastructure;
• Collaborate effectively with DIT colleagues across the CEE region and in the UK on trade promotion events and strategic campaigns;
• Develop high-level contacts with key stakeholders in relevant Government institutions, trade associations and the business community, both in Slovakia and the UK;
• Help to resolve barriers to business and market access issues for specific UK companies;
• Develop and manage visit programmes for UK trade delegations and individual companies;
• Record activity on the DIT CRM system.
Essential qualifications and experience
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Slovak language;
• Business development skills;
• Market research and good analytical ability;
• Knowledge of the business environment in Slovakia;
• Ability to develop and maintain contacts in both the public and private sectors;
• Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work in team;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time position of 5 working days, 36,5 hours per week, for a contract period of 1 year with a probation period of three months.
The monthly salary for this position is € 1,800 gross, payable 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Slovakia. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Slovakia are subject to terms and conditions of service according to Slovak Labour Law.
